VERMONT BIG GAME TROPHY CLUB

Vermont Big Game Trophy Club preserving your Hunting heritage.

Thanks to the generosity of Bob Beaupre, owner of the Vermont Sportsman Lodge, and owner of the former “THE VERMONT SPORSTMAN” magazine, the Vermont Big Game Trophy Club has come into possession of several hundred back issues of  “THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN” dating from 1982 -1998.

THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN began publication in 1969 and for many years was the only statewide magazine exclusively dedicated to the sportsman of Vermont before other magazines such as ”Vermont Outdoors”, which eventually became “OUTDOORS MAGAZINE”, began publication. Due to rising costs and competition of other magazines THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN went out of business and printed its final issue in April/May 1998.

Recognizing the historical significance of these magazines, the VBGTC contacted Beaupre to inquire about what was left of the former magazine. Beaupre offered the VBGTC everything that he had saved, providing that we got the old issues out of the attic of an old garage. In early May, Curtis Smiley and Brad Hanson made the drive to Morgan, Vermont  and were greeted by Beaupre and his son Andy.  After a couple of hours pulling magazines out of the attic and sorting the salvageable issues, the VBGTC had three sets of magazines in surprisingly good shape that covered the last seventeen years THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN was printed.

If you, or someone you know, have killed a trophy deer, bear or moose that has appeared in THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN we urge you to contact the VBGTC to get the trophy recognized by the club. We also may be able to provide you with the original issue the trophy appeared in.

THE VERMONT SPORTSMAN is a slice of Vermont hunting history that the VBGTC intends to preserve for its historical importance. The Vermont Big Game Trophy Club would like to express its appreciation to Bob and Andy Beaupre for allowing us the opportunity to do this.
